As befits a trip home for a funeral, it’s been a crummy day

Well, at least in parts. The first two-thirds were fine, with light traffic and a bit of rain. Then I got pulled over in Indiana. Got a warning for my speed, but a ticket for lapsed registration. Which is crap, because Iowa gives you a 30-day grace period. Indiana does not, apparently.
The cop was cool enough to not impound the car, and Emily was able to renew the registration on her iPhone. Technology, right?
Then came the torrential downpour.
Now we’re in a hotel room, and exhausted.
It’s hard to work full time and not be able to make ends meet. We both work hard, but it’s always a struggle just to pay our bills. And then comes an expense of hundreds of dollars we weren’t expecting.
Maybe it’ll look better in the morning. Or at least after the funeral Wednesday.
