I don’t like to complain
Oh, who am I kidding? I love to complain.
I was invited to, and attended, a “tasting party” for health shakes tonight. Basically they’re Slim-Fast, but “more nutritious.” They’re also loaded with lots and lots of chemicals.
All well and good. They taste like you’d expect—loaded with chemicals and artificial flavors.
Then the regional rep got up and started talking about the benefits. She was careful to say that they don’t treat or cure diseases, but she made a big deal out of the fact she knows people with fibromyalgia who are symptom free after taking these vitamin packs, and that she knows a woman who reversed kidney damage so severe she was on dialysis.
To which I say: No, you don’t. Those things didn’t happen.
I kept smiling throughout, mostly because I pictured her jumping up on the back of a wagon like in an old-time medicine show.

Those things might have happened, once, to one person, but everyone slinging product talks like it was their best friend.
I think I would be more inclined to buy product if they sold it from the back of a wagon, and they had a bushy mustache.
