I want to build more things than I do, write more than I do and play music more than I do. All opinions here are my own, unless they are correct, in which case they're likely stolen.

I love when people say “RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT” for one reason and one reason only: they want marijuana to be legalized

My Facebook feed is filled with people who want Ron Paul to get the nomination. It’s funny though. They can’t participate in a real conversation about his political positions. They just say, “He wants less government and he will legalize weed!!!!!!” They have NO IDEA that he wants the Civil Rights Act repealed, he doesn’t think that global warming or evolution are real, he is a racist, and he is almost certainly homophobic. It’s disappointing to know that people are going to vote for someone without educating themselves. To be honest, I would rather someone not vote than vote without really thinking about why they are doing so.

*Oh, and I’m not saying that weed shouldn’t be legalized. I just think that is a very stupid reason to vote for someone if you’re not considering the rest of the details*

This! This! This! Also, he’s totally anti-choice! I have had people flat-out tell me he’s not, that he’s a libertarian and thus supports a woman’s right to choose! Except not at all!

Bonus, he’s a raging states’-rights-except-when-I-really-care-about-something hypocrite.

Anyway, this!

The last point particularly galls me. He thinks the government shouldn’t be in the business of issuing marriage licenses, but he was a co-sponsor of DOMA.

His strategy seems to be to act like a blank slate that libertarian-leaning people left and right can project their ideals onto, when in reality he’s just another old, conservative, white male who happens to really love the gold standard.
