Execution Date Set for D.C. Sniper - washingtonpost.com
In October 2002, I’d just started as a cops and courts reporter at the Carroll County Times (warning: link will hurt the eyes of all Web designers) in Northern Maryland. I don’t know how many of you live/lived in the Baltimore/D.C. corridor, but it was mass hysteria for weeks. Even though we were 45 min to an hour away from where most shootings happened, people were terrified.
I interviewed people pumping gas about whether they were doing anything differently, and plenty of them had taken to crouching behind their cars to try and stay safe.
If you were in the area, then you remember carefully eyeing every white box truck on the road, despite the fact the snipers were actually in a blue Caprice.
