Given that I’m using the patch, physical cravings have been rare and fleeting. The problem is my mind. Unbidden thoughts show up in my mind: “Why don’t you just take off the patch and go buy a pack of cigarettes?” Or I see myself in the future, still smoking. Having the mind of an addict isn’t great at the best of times, but now I am fighting a civil war with my brain. I have the moral high ground, but the other side has resorted to guerrilla warfare.
