    Additionally, until I started looking things up for this, I did not know that Clear Channel Communications is a subsidiary of Bain Capital.

    Also, the Register hasn’t endorsed a Republican since Nixon (unlike, the Cedar Rapids Gazette, which is family owned, but has only EVER endorsed Republicans for president, except for H. Ross Perot in 1992).

    I’m not sure why regional/state papers endorse candidates for President, other than they’ve always done so. They know the local, regional, state, and congressional races better than anyone—shouldn’t they spend their time making endorsements in those races, where they are better informed?
