Hey look guys, Yahoo! gave Flickr an awesome* facelift today, as well as a HUGE space bump for free accounts!

*and to be fair, long-overdue, but the whole point of bringing in new leadership was to right the ship, after all.

Yow. Removing the photo display limit and upping the storage is amazing. And it’s really very nice looking, too.

This should give the haters some confidence re the Tumblr acquisition.

I do not share the pessimism that most everyone on my feed seems to have.

I think David Karp closing his official blog statement with “Fuck yeah, David” was sophomoric.

I think Yahoo’s statement about not wanting to screw things up was adorable.

I trust Marissa Mayer.

If it is in your nature to complain, I think you should wait until actual changes get made before doing so.

Agreed. I think that was just Karp trying to signify that Tumblr will remain Tumblr. Which is, let’s face it, kind of sophomoric to begin with. I thought Mayer’s gif set was cute, if trying a bit hard, but I’m not worried. Let’s see how this goes, right? Everyone was freaked out about Instagram being bought by Facebook and that hasn’t been nearly as bad as feared, has it?

I, too, think Yahoo! is awful. I don’t even use my Yahoo! ID to log into Flickr anymore—I use my Google ID.

But I’m maybe going to wait till the ink is dry on the check before complaining about the acquisition.

This day 9 in a row of work for me. I used to be able to do things like that with no problem. One summer I worked at least 8 hours a day for 21 days straight to earn overtime, and some of those days I worked 16 hours.

But now 1) I don’t get overtime and 2) I’m old. Very old. And tired. Very tired.
